Rashford surpasses Ronaldo’s goal-scoring milestone

Jakarta

Marcus Rashford be the winner Manchester United over Real Betis. Rashford is now passing Cristiano Ronaldo in MU’s top scorer list in European competition.

MU travels to Betis headquarters at Estadio Benito Villamarin, Friday (17/3/2023) early morning WIB. The Red Devils won 1-0 and qualified 5-1 on aggregate.

MU’s only goal at home to Betis was scored by Rashford. The English striker broke into Betis’ goal with a shot from outside the penalty box.

With this goal, Rashford is now in sixth place on MU’s top scorer list in European competition with 25 goals. He displaces Ronaldo, who made 24 goals in European competition while in MU uniform.

MU manager Erik ten Hag praised Rashford. He was happy Rashford finally scored after wasting a good chance.

“The team created a few chances. Rashford had a few chances before and he missed them, but he still believed, he kept trying, and in the end he got the reward,” said Ten Hag as reported by Sky Sports.

“All good strikers know you don’t score every chance but at this level you don’t create five or six chances a game so one out of two has to go in.”

Rashford has now scored 19 goals in 24 matches after the 2022 World Cup. The 25-year-old player has scored a total of 30 goals this season.

“His performance says something about the team’s performance. It says something about him,” said Ten Hag.

“If he stays focused, and makes sure he has the energy, the way and the way he has to play in that system and style, he will get to a scoring position and then it’s about him, he has the ability to finish (opportunities),” he said.
