Liepaja Museum, small hall
1.00, 1.50
Starting from October 8, the solo exhibition of the artist Rasa Šulca “Parasomnija” will be opened in the small exhibition hall of the Liepāja Museum. The cycle of works of art – paintings and videos – depicts the moment when a person is freed from the realities of the surrounding world, focuses on his inner experience.
A term has been chosen for the name of the exhibition to denote insomnia or a type of sleep disorder. But in the context of the exhibition, this time it will be about a state, or an uncontrolled expression of the mind, which leads a person to moments of inner enlightenment, somewhere in the intermediate zone between dream and consciousness, the artist explains.
Rasa Šulca graduated from the Painting Department of the Latvian Academy of Arts, in 2003 she obtained a Master’s degree in Arts. So far, she has organized five solo exhibitions and participated in a number of group exhibitions in Latvia and abroad. The works are in the Mūkusala salon collection and private collections in Latvia, Sweden, Germany and Great Britain.
