Rare Video Capture of Huge Floating Cluster of Diamond Squid Eggs in Egypt’s Red Sea

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – With its unique marine creatures, the Red Sea in Egypt is an underwater paradise that attracts diving enthusiasts from all corners of the earth.

And in a rare video clip (Watch it above)Egyptian diving instructor Peter Bushra was able to spot a huge floating cluster of diamond squid eggs, which formed what looked like coils connected to each other in an amazing way.

Bushra explained to CNN Arabic that it was “a scene never seen before.”

During his encounter with this “strange and picturesque” scene, as he put it, Bushra was looking to spend some fun time exploring marine creatures in the city of Hurghada in Egypt, specifically in the Sahl Hasheesh area, which is characterized by pristine coral reefs with bright colors and diverse marine creatures.

Bushra explains that what is striking is the size of this mass, which consists of thousands of diamond squid eggs.

Of course, Bushra would not have missed documenting such a formation, which aroused his admiration and curiosity at the same time, in addition to the attractive color of the eggs resembling pink pearls.

From his point of view, Bushra describes this massive cluster of diamond oyster eggs as being like a spiral, interconnected cylindrical tube that is hollow from the inside.

The diamond squid’s egg masses, or what is known as “Thysanoteuthis rhombus”, are large, cylindrical, gelatinous floating in the sea and tropical and subtropical oceans, ranging in length from 0.6 to 1.8 meters with diameters ranging from 110 to 300 millimetres.

These masses contain between 35 and 75 thousand eggs, arranged in two rows in a spiral shape with two blunt ends.
