Vocational education in our country offers 146 professions this year. 33 of them are studied in only one field.
So, for example, the training for a valet is only in the Burgas region, for a dog trainer – in Montana, for a welder and shoemaker – in Pazardzhik, for a jeweler and turner – in Plovdiv, for a photographer – in the capital.
At the other extreme – almost everywhere throughout the country – this year started education for the acquisition of professional qualifications for transport technicians (1848 students in 27 districts), cooks (1398 students in 26 districts) and economists-informatics (1378 students in 25 areas).
A study by the Institute of Market Economy (IPI) shows that probably half of the students will not work at all what they studied for.
Vocational education covers about half of all high school students and is offered in every district of the country and about 4/5 of all municipalities, the IPI analysis also indicates.
The vocational education admissions plan for the current academic year (2023/2024) shows in detail where and what professionals are being trained. For this purpose, the IPI collected the data from all the Regional Directorates of Education (RDE) in the country.
