JABAREKSPRES.COM – Researchers from Amsterdam University revealed that astronomers had found a dormant ‘Black Hole’ or rare black hole in the sky.
This black hole is not like most black holes, which are massive in size and can swallow any celestial bodies in the vicinity. This one black hole is classified as dormant or inactive. But, also born without the explosion of a dying star.
So rare are these black holes, scientists say they discovered “a needle in a haystack”. Interestingly, the “needle” is located not far from the Milky Way.
Another difference is that the black hole does not emit strong X-ray radiation, which indicates it devours nearby matter with a strong gravitational pull.
That’s also what led scientists to conclude that the black hole was not born from stellar explosions are called supernovae.
Normally, black holes are extremely dense objects with such strong gravity that even light cannot escape.
Although “small”, this newly discovered black hole has a mass at least nine times greater than our sun.
It is located in the Tarantula Nebula region of the Great Magellanic Cloud galaxy and is located about 160,000 light years from Earth.
To illustrate, a light year is the distance light travels in a year, or approx 9.5 trillion kilometers.
