Rare Cases of Avian Influenza Infecting Humans

TRIBUNJOGJA.COM, LONDON – Health officials English identify rare cases bird flu found in humans. This finding emerged when English is fighting bird flu, the largest virus outbreak that attacks poultry.

Transmission bird flu from birds to humans is very rare and previously only happened a few times in English, said the Health Safety Agency English (UKHSA) quoted from AFP. Infected individuals, in the southwest English, said to be in good condition and self-isolating, he added.

“The person contracted the infection from very close and regular contact with large numbers of infected birds, which they kept in and around the house for long periods of time,” the UKHSA said.

UKHSA says risk bird flu the public at large remains very low, but warns people not to touch sick or dead birds.

The UK is culling about half a million birds by 2021 as it grapples with what Environment Secretary George Eustice has called the plague bird flu largest ever in the country.

Simultaneously with the extermination, the government launched a new rule in December 2021 that required keepers to ensure all birds caught were indoors, and follow strict biosecurity measures to curb the spread of the virus.

However, officials worry that wild birds migrating from mainland Europe during the winter months may carry the disease.

Ducks and geese are among the wild species known to be affected, while a number of birds of prey are also confirmed to have died. (kpc)
