Football star dies of rare carnivorous virus The family came to the scene alleging that the young man was mistakenly treated for tonsillitis and no other tests were done.
20-year-old Luke Abraham from England contacted the doctor over the phone due to a severe sore throat. Then he was prescribed medicine for tonsillitis. But due to pain again, he went to the hospital, but Luke was sent back without any tests.
Then a few days later he felt severe pain in his leg. As his condition worsened, his parents called the hospital where Luke was treated and asked for an ambulance, but it did not arrive, so he was taken to another hospital.
He underwent surgery but died. A post-mortem revealed that the young man had septicaemia, Lemierre syndrome – an infection caused by flesh-eating bacteria. Luke’s parents said doctors did not bother to do any tests and will take legal action against those responsible for their son’s death.
