“Rare 30-Year-Old Škoda Favorit in Perfect Condition Sells for 24,000 Euros”

The new owner paid 24,000 euros for the 30-year-old car, which had traveled only three tens of kilometers.

It is unlikely that anywhere in the world a Škoda Favorit has been preserved in such good condition. The Czechs stopped producing such a model back in 1994, besides, the car intended for mass production is not a Ferrari or a Bugatti that someone would try to preserve at any cost.

However, the Škoda Favorit was also used as a “time capsule” – a car from Greece was recently included in the auction offer, which is said to be in excellent condition, one must think that thanks to the climate and the fact that the owner, who bought it 30 years ago, already realized after a few tens of kilometers that “driving is not her thing”.

The car was parked in the garage and stood there for almost 30 years, until it was discovered in 2022 and after the recently held auction, it came into the possession of Czech racing driver Jiri Michanek for 24,000 euros.

The media reports that the Favorit from Greece is a real time capsule – its seats are still covered by polyethylene packaging from the moment of delivery, but the odometer has only read 34 kilometers. In the engine compartment there is a 1.3-liter 54 HP unit, but the design authors are masters from the well-known Italian brand Bertone.

Škoda Favorit is the first Czech model with front-wheel drive and a front-mounted engine. The model debuted in 1987 and was produced until 1994, when it was replaced by the Felicia – the predecessor of the better-known Fabia.
