So far, the previous generation BMW M5 was only offered in Europe with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Americans, however, surprisingly received a gift in the form of a six-speed manual. You can even auction one of them.
A lot of car fans can’t stand it manual transmission commit However, I don’t see it as a necessity for modern cars with turbocharged engines and huge power even at low revs. On the contrary, there are most cases where I would prefer an automatic. Especially if it were a BMW. Contrary to popular belief, the Munich manual wardrobes are not among the best.
I myself have personal experience with the past, for example BMW M2 or current M4 Coupe with a classic shifter and in neither case was I completely thrilled. Both sports cars lacked precision and overall confidence when shifting. The M4 even suffered from stuttering in first gear, which detracted from an otherwise very pleasant ride.
For an investment car for pleasure, however, I would like a classic gearbox. Especially if it is a rarity, as in the case of a beautiful sedan BMW M5 the previous generation with the designation F10. You could officially buy it in Europe only with a seven-speed dual clutch. As with the iconic M5 E60 version with an atmospheric ten-cylinder, BMW has traditionally only offered a manual gearbox only in the United States, which is paradoxically the mecca of automatics.
And just on the other side of the Atlantic, a beautifully preserved one appeared specimen model year 2015 in Singapore gray metallic paint. In addition, this particular piece is one of only 118 cars with a manual and extra package Competition for the original price of 7,500 dollars (174,000 crowns at the current exchange rate). It brought, among other things, an eight-cylinder 4.4 with power increased from 412 to 423 kilowatts, a chassis lowered by a centimeter, twenty-inch wheels, M Dynamic driving mode and black chrome exhaust tips.
In roughly nine years, the gray BMW M5 has driven only 25,000 miles (slightly over 40,000 kilometers), so the interior, dressed in Sakhir Orange red-orange leather, is almost like new. In addition, the car is literally crammed with additional equipment, including a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a panoramic parking system, adaptive front LED headlights, an electrically controlled trunk lid, a door closing system (so-called soft-close) and a sunroof.
You can participate in the auction on the Bring a Trailer server until Friday, October 27, while at the time of writing the current price of the BMW M5 reached 55 thousand dollars, i.e. approximately 1,279,000 CZK.
