A very rare example of Saab has been put up for auction. Fewer than 500 examples were produced, and the one for sale has less than 3,000 kilometers.
For fans of the Swedish manufacturer Saab, December 19, 2011 was a sad day, and probably still remains so, as the company Saab went bankrupt. General Motors decided to abandon the Swedish brand and, without financial support from elsewhere, Saab closed down. But then NEVS AB (National Electric Vehicle Sweden) acquired Saab’s assets and resumed production of the 9-3. Most of these vehicles are electric, but the company has produced a limited series of gasoline vehicles, including the one we will talk about in this material, which has just gone on sale.
Auction site Site Bilweb has a 2014 Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 listed for sale, making it one of only 451 cars produced. The cars produced by NEVS received some updates and were slightly different from the previous version produced by GM. They also had different emblems that just said SAAB, without the famous griffin.
Inside, the front seats were taken over from the first generation Volvo XC90, but with different headrests. The fuel injection and braking systems were also modified, ditching stock GM components. Buyers could choose between a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, and the cars could be painted gray or black.
One of the last SAAB models has gone on sale. How much is the car with less than 3,000 km on board?
The car sold by Bilweb Auctions is part of the batch of 451 cars produced. The example in question was manufactured in April 2014 and is one of 204 cars produced painted black and equipped with an automatic transmission. It was first registered by NEVS on 4 February 2015. On 1 April of the same year, it was registered at the Saab dealer in Järna.
On April 16, it was purchased by the first and only owner, who has used the car since then. It has traveled only 2,970 km, a mileage that is confirmed by the inspection reports, according to the announcement. The 2.0-liter turbo engine, which produces 220 hp, should give the car decent revs, in combination with the 6-speed automatic transmission.
Even if it’s not a classic Saab, or at least a Saab produced by the defunct Swedish company itself, nostalgics might appreciate such an extremely low-mileage car in very good condition that reminds them of the cars once produced by Swedish manufacturer. The price reached at the time of writing this article is 235,000 Swedish kronor or 20,972 euros. The auction will end on May 11.
