The 1987 Ferrari Mondial that was fished out of the IJ three years ago will be given a place in the largest private car museum in Lithuania. The car will have a specially equipped stand in the Automuziejus Vilnius in the spring of 2024.
The car has been threatened with demolition several times, but so far it has been spared that fate.
Artist Feike Otto van der Zee has been committed to preserving and exhibiting the Ferrari since July 2020. He heard from current owner Linas that the Ferrari Mondial can go to the Lithuanian museum. That museum already houses a Ferrari Testarossa from Linas.
The Ferrari Mondial, recovered from the IJ, will be surrounded in the museum by videos, special lighting, photos and information about the history of the car.
The exhibition in Lithuania is temporary. Artist Van der Zee hopes that the car will then be exhibited in other places.
The Ferrari was reported missing almost thirty years ago and fished from the IJ in 2020. It took a lot of effort to get the car up, because it was stuck in the clay. Firefighters had discovered the vehicle by chance during training a month earlier.
