Ruben Louis – his real name – was sentenced late in the evening to a 120-day fine of 50 euros, for a total of 6 thousand euros. If he hadn’t paid this sum, he would have faced 120 days in jail.

He is also sentenced to a five-year ban on keeping animals.

This ruling was previously proposed by the prosecutor and accepted by the rapper as part of the appearance on the prior acknowledgment of guilt (CRPC), a sort of French “guilty plea” that allows you to judge certain crimes more quickly, provided that that the defendant acknowledges the facts.

This case echoes that of Kurt Zouma, a French international defender sentenced by British justice to 180 hours of community service in June for mistreating his cat after a video went viral.

Timal gained some notoriety in February with the single “Filtered”, along with rapper Gazo. The song now has over 52 million plays on Spotify, the world’s leading music platform, and nearly as many views on YouTube.

At the end of August he released, with rap heavyweights Booba, a new single entitled “Chameleon”.
