The Dutch rapper Murda has spent a night in a Turkish cell. He was arrested on arrival at Istanbul airport on Saturday night, according to his management because he raps about drug use and sex in some songs.
Murda, whose real name is Önder Dogan, was allowed to leave the next day. His management says there is no ground for prosecution, because he has Dutch nationality and his songs were released in the Netherlands.
Nasty night
The Milliyet TV site states a video which shows Murda being taken away by the police. Then he speaks for himself. “Unfortunately, we had a bad night. Despite that, everything is going well.”
Due to his arrest, he missed a performance in Sakarya. Murda apologizes for that and says he’s going to see how he can make it up. He also thanks everyone who messaged him.
Conditions
According to Turkish media, Murda is on parole. His management who had contact with him disputes that. He is in possession of his passport and is allowed to leave Turkey. He will stay in Turkey for a while, because he still has a number of appointments for his work.
Murda is popular in Turkey. His songs have been listened to millions of times on Spotify.
