An Amsterdam rapper has to pay a car rental company 71,950 euros in damages for a crash with a Mercedes C63 AMG. That has been decided by the district court. The car was traveling at 238 km/h around the time of the accident.

The man had first rented another car for the shooting of a music video. He then exchanged the car for the luxury Mercedes, with which he subsequently crashed.
The landlord held the man liable for the damage. However, he refused to pay because a blowout was the cause of the accident and the accident was therefore not his fault. However, he was unable to substantiate that claim with evidence in court.
238 km/h
The lessor did have proof: the journey data showed that the man was driving 238 km/h around the time of the accident. According to the judge, it is therefore obvious that the accident was caused by the excessive speed at which the vehicle was driven and not by a blowout. The man is therefore liable for the damage.
