Memphis rapper Lola Mitchell, also known as Gangsta Boo, has passed away, reports TMZ.
Mitchell, a former member of the rap group Three 6 Mafia, has turned 43.
According to the local TV channel Fox 13 Memphis she was found dead around 4pm local time on New Year’s Day.
According to tmz extension the death is confirmed by his former colleague DJ Paul. He shared a photo of Mitchell on Instagram, where several well-known artists offer their condolences.
– We were together just three weeks ago. Rest in peace, writes rapper Lil Jon.
It is not known what Mitchell died of.
Lola Mitchell is referred to as a pioneer of female rap. Her career began in earnest in the 1990s when she joined Three 6 Mafia, alongside the aforementioned Paul and Juicy J, among others.
Mitchell, or Gangsta Boo, has also released several solo albums and collaborated with artists such as Gucci Mane, Outkast and The Game.
