An episode of I Can See Your Voice is divided into several parts. For example, after the first elimination round, candidates must report to the podium one by one for the lip sync. During this round they playback a song, while you may or may not hear their own voice in the background. With one of the last candidates, Donnie only finds out that he is not watching a live performance.

That exciting Baywatch-package from the boy on stage can just give away whether he can sing or not. His upper body is exposed, after which the judges discuss tightening your abs while singing. This candidate doesn’t seem to do that well.
Donnie, who thinks he can’t sing very well, joins in the discussion and says to Danny de Munk: “But Danny, don’t you think by the way he sang and with the little hand, you broaden himself… Singing from your diaphragm, I’ve heard.” To which Danny says: “This is still playback, isn’t it?”
“Oh, this isn’t live?” the rapper then shouts when the penny drops. “This is just playback?” Meanwhile, Carlo Boszhard is spitting out: of course the boy is lip syncing on stage, it’s the lip sync round.

But hey, Donnie is Donnie. Probably no rapper in the Netherlands who has done his homework so badly gets away with a blunder on television.
I Can See Your Voice is broadcast every Friday at 8 p.m. on RTL 4. Or watch the episodes (back) at Videoland.
