Rapper and YouTube star (29) arrested on serious charges

British rapper and online star Yung Filly, real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, is facing serious allegations in Australia.

After a performance in Perth there was a shocking incident that now has far-reaching legal consequences.

Yung Filly accused of rape allegations

Brisbane, Australia. The 29-year-old artist, known for his membership in the YouTube collective Beta Squad and his hosting work for BBC Three, was arrested on Tuesday in Brisbane, Australia. Shortly after his arrest, Barrientos was transferred to Perth to stand trial. The charges against him contain serious allegations.

Allegations and charges

According to the indictment, Yung Filly is said to have brought a young woman in her 20s to his hotel room after a performance at a nightclub in Perth, specifically Bar1. According to investigators, the crime occurred on September 28th. Barrientos is accused, among other things, of four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of bodily harm and one count of suffocation (note: this refers to forcibly choking the victim). The Perth court was now faced with these serious allegations.

Court hearing and bail application

Barrientos was finally formally charged on Thursday. At the first hearing, his lawyer Seamus Rafferty SC, a well-known criminal defense lawyer, made an application for bail. This was granted to the 29-year-old musician so that he can remain free until further proceedings. The exact amount of the deposit is not yet known, but in such a situation it could be in the five to six figure range.

International fame and career

Yung Filly, who was on tour in Australia at the time of his arrest, is highly regarded not only as a musician but also as an entertainer in the UK. He is best known for appearing on ITV’s Soccer Aid and the popular Channel 4 show The Great Celebrity Bake Off, which aired as part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign. He also received a MOBO Award for Best Media Personality in 2021.
