This August 9 and 10, 2023, the Rapid Vaccination Monitoring (MRV) day will take place in 100 cantons of Ecuador, to verify the status of vaccination against polio, measles and rubella in children from 1 to 12 years of age.
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) details that the monitors _health officials_ were trained, who were assigned to carry out the activities in Zonal Coordinations 1 (Carchi, Imbabura, Sucumbíos); Zonal Coordination 2 (Napo, Orellana); Zonal Coordination 3 (Tungurahua, Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Pastaza) and Zonal Coordination 6 (Azuay, Cañar, Morona Santiago).
The workshops were supervised by the staff of the National Immunization Directorate of the MSP and delegates of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).
161 officials from Napo and Orellana participated in the training that took place on Tuesday in Tena. The cantons for identification are Pedro Vicente Maldonado and Francisco de Orellana.
In southern Ecuador, identification will be made in Cuenca, Azogues and Macas. 318 officials were trained to support monitoring in 1,064 locations.
While, in Ambato, 415 health professionals attended training on MRV to verify compliance and effectiveness of the campaign during the rapid evaluation of vaccination coverage in 30 cantons of Zonal 3.
Likewise, 250 health professionals from the north of the country attended the training in the cities of Ibarra, Sucumbíos and Carchi. The monitoring will be carried out in sectors of 19 cantons of Carchi and Imbabura.
In Esmeraldas, the MRV was planned for August 12 and 13, 2023.
The MSP indicates that the monitoring of the vaccination campaign will ensure that the population is vaccinated, protecting individual and collective health by preventing the spread of diseases preventable by vaccination, the objective of the campaign for an Ecuador free of polio, measles and rubella.
