“The first rapid tests will be distributed from Monday 23 November,” says Joris Moonens of the Agency for Care and Health. “If a residential care center notices symptoms in a resident, a rapid test can be taken immediately. If the result is positive, the residential care center can immediately take the appropriate measures.”
The results of the rapid tests administered still have to be double-checked with a classic and more reliable PCR test. “At the beginning of December, the results of the rapid tests and the PCR tests will also be collected by Sciensano, so that an evaluation can be made of the reliability of the rapid tests in comparison with the PCR tests.”
