The commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (Hamidti), said in an audio recording attributed to him, obtained by Al-Jazeera today, Monday, that the war in Sudan has doubled the suffering of the Sudanese, especially in Khartoum and Darfur, while the battles continued in the three cities of Khartoum, and the army bombed Rapid Support sites in the center of Umm Durman and its south.

Hamidti added that the war has exceeded 3 months, and that they are working hard with actors at home and abroad to mitigate its effects.

He stressed that “peace and stability in the state of freedom, justice and equality” was and still is the choice of his forces, but he stressed on the other hand that they are ready for the option of war and ready to sacrifice themselves.

The commander of the Rapid Support Forces said that they will not allow the defunct regime and the remnants to seize power again, as he put it.

He added that any victories, no matter how great, would not tempt his forces to advance with courage to accept the option of a political solution to the roots of the crisis.

It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of fighting 3 months ago, Hamidti appeared in public once alongside his fighters in Khartoum, and was satisfied with issuing audio recordings or written statements.

In the refugee file, the flow of people fleeing the Darfur confrontations to neighboring Chad continues. The number of Sudanese refugees in the Chadian city of “Adre” alone has reached about 100,000.

The Chadian authorities estimate the total number of refugees who have arrived in Chad since the start of the war in Sudan to be about 250,000, stressing that these refugees need urgent aid such as food, medicine and tents.

Since the start of the conflict in mid-April, more than 3,000 people have been killed, thousands injured, and more than 3 million people have been displaced, including nearly 700,000 who have fled to neighboring countries.
