Rapid Increase in Flu and Respiratory Infections in Spain and Croatia, Covid-19 Concern

In some regions of Spain, the number of cases of flu and other respiratory infections has increased by 140 percent, due to social contact during the Christmas period and the seasonal cold. People complain of stuffy noses, sore throats and fevers, while specialists point out that influenza type A is spreading particularly rapidly.

Unfortunately, the peak of the infection is still to be expected, but already in the autonomous region of Castilla-La Mancha, 24-hour emergency medical assistance has been provided to more than 4,000 residents.

Also in Croatia, the number of flu cases has increased to 858, while several thousand people have been diagnosed with other respiratory infections.

However, the biggest concern is the Covid-19 infection, which has claimed almost 200 lives in the last month.

More than 4,000 infections are also reported every week, and a new omicron subtype of the virus may have emerged.
