In the only test match before the restart of the domestic Bundesliga, the SK Rapid received the SV Horn on Thursday afternoon. In the ghost game at Allianz Stadium, Stefan Schwab & Co quickly took command and were able to play out three good chances in the first ten minutes, but Dejan Ljubicic, Taxiarchis Fountas and Thomas Murg had not yet been granted any sense of achievement.
After just under a quarter of an hour, an offside of Taxiarchis Fountas, punished by the referee team around referee Harald Lechner, prevented the lead, but in the 18th minute the Greek striker scored from a relatively short distance to the well-deserved lead at the time. Thomas Murg increased in the 26th minute with a remarkable free kick from around 18 meters, the Styrian had previously been fouled himself. Didi Kühbauer’s team remained dominant and kept coming dangerously into half of the opponent, who could only cause danger in the first half with a well-kicked free kick. Thomas Murg was very close to 3-0, his conclusion after a wonderful pass from Stefan Schwab went to the inner bar and rolled down the goal line. With 2: 0 it went into the cabins.
After the half-time break, in which coach Kühbauer made only one change, the big chances failed to materialize for the time being. Taxiarchis Fountas, for whom Koya Kitagawa came after almost an hour, had the first conclusion, but his attempt went relatively clearly over the goal of horn keeper Simon Kronsteiner. Kelvin Arase could then have increased in the 59th minute, but then he couldn’t get to a dangerous goal from the best position. Shortly thereafter, substitute Thorsten Schick came up with another opportunity, but he defused the horn goalkeeper, in the 69th minute a header from Captain Schwab was blocked by a defender from the Waldviertel just before the line, so it was half-time 2 continue to wait for gate number 3!
Ex-Horner Ercan Kara, who was ready according to Leo Greiml’s header and was able to achieve the 3: 0 for green and white with a full shot from the edge of the box! The result could have been even higher, so the left pole prevented the 4: 0 in a remarkable attempt by Marko Bozic.
