“Those who are organizing a summer holiday in the most popular seaside resorts in Europe and the rest of the world these days will have to deal with airfares that have reached astronomical levels”. This was stated by Assoutenti, commenting on the decision of the Guarantor for price surveillance to summon the airlines to understand the trend of fares in our country. The association has carried out a study which reveals how «for some European routes, tickets now cost almost as much as a long-haul flight to New York: for example, to fly from Rome to Rhodes, leaving on August 12 and returning on August 19, you need at least 696 euros, 694 euros from Milan to Tenerife, against 743 euros for the return flight from Rome to New York. Tickets to Egypt exceed the prices of intercontinental flights: in the same period (12-19 August) to go from Milan to Sharm el Sheikh you spend at least 950 euros, while for the Rome-Marsa Alam route you start from 778 euros.
