The South Municipal Board, in collaboration with the entities of the district, has scheduled a series of activities and workshops aimed at young people for this June. In this way, Zaragoza City Council offers a healthy leisure alternative to young people from the four southern neighborhoods of the city. These are Montecanal, Valdespartera, Rosales del Canal and Arcosur, which have a population of 39,721 inhabitants and a youth rate of 519%, the highest in the city, according to data from the municipal census.
Under the name “Sur Joven”, this program is aimed at young people between 12 and 18 years of age, and seeks to respond to the needs of this group, “providing healthy leisure and free time alternatives” throughout the year.
The program will begin with a rap workshop “Igualrap” at the Valdespartera Youth House to be held on June 2. The following day, the film “Jumanji: The next level” will be screened in the civic center of Distrito Sur, while the film “Ready player one” can be seen on June 17 at the Junta Municipal Sur, located on Avenida de Casablanca next to the fairgrounds. On June 25, a Freestyle skating workshop and tournament has been scheduled at the Valdespartera Parish futsal court, located at Pl. Mary Poppins nº1. The activities of the program will resume in September with a sports tournament in various school spaces.
For the design of the activities, the Board has had the participation and collaboration of entities such as the group of AMPAs of the Southern District, the Scout Group of Rosales del Canal, the Neighborhood Association of the Jungle Book Park, the Parish of San Ignacio Clemente Delgado and the Barrios del Sur Neighborhood Center.
On behalf of the City Council, the Youth Service has intervened through the Valdespartera PIEE, the Rosales del Canal PIEE and the Valdespartera Youth House, in addition to the Civic Center Service from the Southern District Civic Center, as well as the centers district education.
