Raonic victim of surprise elimination in New York

(New York) Canadian Milos Raonic suffered a surprise second-round knockout of the New York Open, losing 6-7 (4), 7-6 (4), 4-6 to the South Korean Soonwoo Kwon Wednesday evening.

Second seed and recipient of a direct pass in the second round, Raonic accumulated 33 aces against his 22-year-old rival, holder of the 84e rank in the ATP ranking.

In addition to his 33 aces, Raonic only faced two break points, but Kwon was able to exploit the second, in the third game of the deciding set.

Kwon held on for the rest of the game to earn his ticket to the third round.

Raonic created seven break points, including six in the second set, but Kwon saved them all.
