L’Etudiant compared the 69 French universities based on of the success rate of their undergraduate students in three years.
These results vary by university, as well as field of study. You will find a general ranking of license success as well as five rankings according to field of study (arts, letters and languages ; health and science ; law and political science ; economics and AES ; STAPS).
At national scale, the three-year success rate is 36%, all disciplines combined. If we add the students who succeed in four years, they are 47.1% to obtain their bachelor’s degree.

We also took into account the added value of universities. This indicator shows the capacity of an establishment to support its students in success and to help them progress. A high number means the university is allowing more students to graduate than the Ministry of Higher Education expected. You will find this information in the complete university information sheet.
The University of Haute-Alsace in the lead for the second year
All disciplines combined, the University of Haute-Alsace (68) tops the ranking for bachelor’s degree success. Its success rate in three years amounts to 54,7%. To this are added the 8.3% of students who complete their degree in four years. It is also the university which displays the best added value in our ranking, she therefore particularly helps her students progress.
This university of 900 students already occupied the top of the ranking in 2023, with a rate of 55.5%. It particularly shines in the field of arts, letters and languages, posting a success rate of 67.4% in three years.
UHA is followed by the University of Angers (49) which is positioned on the second step of the ranking, with 52.1% success rate in three years and a very good added value of 12.6. A position that it already occupied during the 2023 edition.
Paris 1 and 2 universities on the rise
Third place is occupied by l’University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (75)thanks to a three-year success rate of 52,9% and an added value of 3.5 points. It thus gains a rank compared to last year’s ranking.
The University of La Rochelle (17) comes in 4th place. Her success rate has improved significantly compared to last year’s ranking, where she came 10th. In total, 48% of its students graduate within three years. It is also distinguished by an added value of 9.2.
Paris 2 Panthéon Assas University is 5th in the ranking, with 53.4% success rate in three years. Over four years, these are 9.8% more students who obtain their license. On the other hand, for this university, the added value is negative.
