Many employers have introduced regulations for mobile working: Whether the work is done in the home office, on the beach or from a holiday apartment is usually of secondary importance – as long as accessibility is ensured via a stable internet connection. With this trend, the artificial word “Workation‘ that brings work and vacation together.
The holiday home broker HomeToGo examined 150 metropolises for its “Workation Index 2022”, the criteria included accommodation prices, cultural offerings and internet access. Result: Best suited for a workation in the world Tokyo, followed by Bangkok, Madrid, London and New York. As the German city most suitable for workation, Berlin follows in 15th place in this ranking.
The holiday home agent has also commissioned a survey to find out in which form of accommodation those willing to work prefer to spend the night. Unsurprisingly, 46 percent stated that they would prefer to spend their work in a holiday home or apartment. 27 percent stated that they would prefer to combine work and vacation in a hotel. Twelve percent of respondents prefer Bed & Breakfast and nine percent prefer a campsite. And a simple hostel is only the first choice for six percent.
HomeToGo only examined major cities. The fact that you can also vacation and work excellently in rural regions – including parts of Brandenburg – is another matter.
