Car Features
According to the expert, in order to determine the cheapest cars to maintain, you first need to divide them into groups:
vehicles with internal combustion engines (ICE) – diesel, gasoline, gasoline with gas equipment (LPG), electric
Internal combustion engines have many elements that constantly rotate and rub. It is these elements that wear out the most and need lubricants to extend their service life.
In addition, to be environmentally friendly, cars with internal combustion engines are equipped with additional equipment (systems), which reduces emissions into the air, but also reduces the life of the engine and adds more costs to the maintenance of this equipment (systems).
Electric cars, unlike cars with internal combustion engines, do not have such systems. The only thing in common is the car’s suspension.
Which cars are cheap to maintain?
Denis Chernysh noted that the cheapest to maintain are electric cars with the simplest beam suspension.
It should be remembered that the more technology (equipment) used in a car, the greater the likelihood that something will quickly fail.
Accordingly, the less technology, the cheaper the car to maintain – that’s what an electric car is.
If you prefer cars with an internal combustion engine, then you need to choose front-wheel drive cars with conventional naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, 8-valve engines and without stabilization systems, anti-lock braking and air conditioning.
The expert says that such cars include Daewoo Lanos and Chevrolet Aveo until 2006.
“There is nothing to break in these cars. And for what is there, there is a very large selection of budget spare parts on the market,” the engineer added.
