Rangnick’s joke about Cristiano Ronaldo after his historic record

After Manchester United’s capital victory against Tottenham (3-2) this Sunday in the Premier League, Ralf Rangnick commented with humor on Cristiano Ronaldo’s hat-trick. The Portuguese international has become the best scorer in the history of football with 807 goals (ahead of the Czech Josef Bican).

The German manager played the humorous card in front of the media after the victory against Spurs over the controversy caused by Cristiano Ronaldo last Sunday and this week. The Red Devils striker had indeed flown to Portugal with his relatives after learning his package against Manchester City and allowed himself to stay a few extra days in his native country to recover from this slight injury.

“We were joking a bit that it might be a good idea to send him to Portugal for three days, when he didn’t train for two days, and have him come back to training on the Thursday. He trained to a similar level on Thursday, so I decided after that training session to play him from the start, although he was out for a week. Maybe we should do it for the rest of the season. He made the difference, that’s for sure, with his three goals. It was the best performance from him since my arrival”underlined the German coach after the victory against Spurs before acknowledging that the Mancunian club had to solve certain problems internally.

“We have problems here at the club. It’s obvious. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be here talking to you. Corn [Ronaldo] is still a player who can make a difference. He showed it today. And I hope he will stay in shape for the rest of the season to continue to evolve at this level. Him and the whole team, but he is the one who can make the difference until the end of the season”, he continued. Next meeting on Tuesday (9:00 p.m.) in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Atlético Madrid.
