Ole Gunnar Solskjær was recently fired by Manchester United after a weak start to the season. Ralf Rangnick has taken over as interim coach for the rest of the season before he will transfer to a consulting role at the club.
That Manchester United has chosen to hire Ralf Rangnick? This is something that former Liverpool player Graeme Souness has a hard time understanding.
– Rangnick has no resume that stands out and makes one feel “wow”. He has not been super successful. I think he has won a title, says Souness to Talksport and continues:
– His talent, which we will see, would show itself by joining a football club and developing the structure over a five- to ten-year period. That’s not what Manchester United need, they need results now. They need someone who can make an impression right away.
Graeme Souness believes that Ralf Rangnick’s lack of experience in the Premier League is not to the German’s advantage.
– Should this guy, who has never been in the Premier League, be able to get an underperforming squad of players to start performing? I do not think so. I just can not understand the employment, says Souness.
On Thursday, Manchester United will host Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
