Rangnick ignores Rashford, what is his future at Manchester United?

Marcus Rashford not played as a starter when Manchester United draw with Leicester City. MU legend Rio Ferdinand questioning Rashford’s future.

A surprising decision was made by the interim manager of MU, Ralf Rangnick, in the match at Old Trafford, Sunday (3/4/2022) WIB. In the absence of senior strikers such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, Rashford was only parked on the bench.

Rangnick prefers to play without a striker against Leicester. Bruno Fernandes is plotted as a spearhead for the Red Devils supported by the trio of Jadon Sancho, Pul Pogba, and Anthony Elanga behind him.

Rashford was only introduced in the 55th minute, to replace Scott McTominay. United then conceded a goal by Kelechi Iheanacho, before leveling the score through Fred’s goal. Meanwhile Rashford had little effect during 35 minutes of play after making just 14 touches on the ball without letting go of a single attempt.

The 24-year-old player only has a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford. Ferdinand felt Rangnick’s abandonment could make Rashford reluctant to defend.

“What must Rashford think now?,” Ferdinand said on YouTube channel FIVE, quoted by Mirror. “There may be new contract negotiations behind the scenes but if you were him you sit there and think ‘wow, the manager doesn’t like me. How can I stay here and sign a new contract when the team would rather play without a striker than play with me. ?.’

“All the signals are wrong. I’m not saying he is perfect or playing well in recent weeks, but at the same time this is a wrong signal,” said the owner of six Premier League titles.

“Forget everything else. If I were Rashford, I would look and think ‘This guy doesn’t respect me’. He doesn’t think of me because he will play two midfielders up front, instead of playing me,” said Ferdinand, hinting about the future. Rashford Of Manchester United.
