Corey Seager Ready for Spring Training After Overcoming Hernia Surgeries

“it’s a pretty normal offseason, which is nice. First time in a while,” Seager shared Friday night at the Rangers’ annual awards dinner,where he was honored as the team’s player of the year. “It’s been good to kind of get in the gym and get in shape again and just kind of be ready.”
Seager’s journey to recovery began with a right sports hernia repair on September 13, 2024, following an earlier procedure on January 30 of the same year.The first surgery sidelined him for most of spring training, but he managed to return in time for the season opener. Despite the setbacks, Seager delivered an notable performance, batting .278 with 30 home runs and 74 RBIs in 123 games.After a slow start, he surged with a.296 average, 28 homers, and 66 RBIs in 94 games post-May.reflecting on his recovery, Seager noted, “It might have been a little easier just because you know what to expect. You weren’t as nervous about certain feelings and stuff like that. So once the six weeks was over, I kind of hit the ground running and I got to kind of build into it slower than I did [last] spring.”
Even during the 2023 postseason, when the Rangers clinched their first World series title, Seager battled through a left hernia issue. Despite the discomfort, he shone brightly, hitting .318 with six home runs, 12 RBIs, and 15 walks in 17 postseason games.
