The Rangers are poised to offer Ryan Kent an excellent new contract to keep Leeds at bay for another season, according to reports.
Kent, 24 years old, has proven to be a superb signing for Steven Gerrard after arriving on a £ 7 million permanent draw from Liverpool in 2019. The winger had impressed on a loan period and Gerrard was desperate to get the Oldham-born player to join Ibrox. Kent has scored 12 goals and 14 assists in all competitions this season and helped Gers beat Celtic 4-1 0 over the weekend.
Its form has had explorers en masse to see it and Leeds, according to the Scottish Sun last month, is back on Kent’s trail. Marcelo Bielsa failed with a couple of offers for Kent to join on board last summer and West Yorkshire is eyeing Kent once again.
That has prompted Gerrard to ask the Rangers to offer Kent a new contract. The daily log They report that the fan favorite is in line for a ‘great new deal’ to keep the Premier League team at bay.
Kent is under contract until 2023 and the report states that the Gers “plan to collect at some point.” However, Gerrard wants Kent for a Champions League shot and the former Liverpool player seems excited at the prospect.
Ibrox bosses also want to maximize their profits in Kent and a leading role in Europe’s top competition could see its value rise.
Speaking before the weekend, Kent said: “It’s just playing in the now. It is good to be linked with other big clubs.
“But you have to understand your duty to where you are.
“And as long as I’m in the Rangers I will always give them 100 percent.
“I love this place and the club has done a lot for me. While I’m here, I’ll be totally focused on the Rangers.
“The Champions League will be huge, it is the biggest stage in club football, being able to test you against the best players in the world and the best teams in the world.”

Laudrup: No Champions League football in Leeds
Meanwhile, former Gers striker Brian Laudrup wrote in the Daily Mail: “Everyone knows that the financial aspect of football influences decisions.
“There could be a really big offer coming this summer that the Rangers and the player decide they can’t turn down. This is life. But I hope Kent stays in Ibrox. Because I can see real benefits from it.
“The appeal of the Champions League is there next season. It could be an opportunity to test yourself against the best players in the biggest competition of all. You can’t get that in Leeds right now.
And Rangers legend Barry Ferguson is desperate for Kent to stay in Glasgow.
He said: “I just hope he’s a player that the coach can stay with. I’m sure if southern clubs like Leeds and other clubs were watching the game, he was the featured artist.
“I know Roofe came in and doubled, but to me Ryan Kent was the standout player in the park by a mile.”
