Five Rangers footballers were banned from the Scottish Association in four matches for violating coronavirus rules for attending a party in Glasgow. The party ended the police intervention.
Midfielder Bongani Zungu, defenders Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey, forward Dapo Mebude and goalkeeper Brian Kinnear were expelled from the team in February and had to be quarantined for ten days. The club has previously fined them.
Five players are not allowed to compete in the next four Rangers games, for the next two matches they have a penalty with a condition until the end of the season. Steven Gerrard’s charges already have a certain championship title, which they won for the first time since 2011. In the European League, they recently lost in the eighth final with Prague’s Slavia.
Already in the fall, two other Rangers players, Jordan Jones and George Edmundson, were punished for violating measures against the spread of coronavirus, who were not allowed to take part in seven matches for attending a private party.
