A “Climate Citizens’ Council” is currently being formed. The project is not without controversy. But for the initiators the advantages are obvious.
It already exists at the national level, and now a “Climate Citizens’ Council” in the Freiburg region is also to start thinking about a sustainable future – according to the initiators as Germany’s first intermunicipal climate citizens’ council. The planned 90 participants from 16 participating cities and communities – including Freiburg – are currently being selected at random. The Freiburg association Alliance for Value-Oriented Democracy, which is implementing the project, reports that the response has been positive.
