NEW YORK – Six men were wounded by gunshots after a suspect opened fire at random on a group of people near a park in the Bronx on Wednesday, according to the New York City Police Department.
The incident happened near the corner of 191st Street and Morris Avenue in the Fordham section of the county around 8:15 p.m.
According to NYPD Deputy Chief Benjamin Gurley, who spoke at a press conference on Wednesday, two suspects were seen parking their scooter in St. James Park and approaching the corner where the group was. a man passing the time under a scaffold. One of the suspects pulled a gun and fired about nine shots, injuring six people.
One man was shot in the stomach, another in the right hand, another in the lock, another in the right leg, another in the torso and another in the right arm.
Five of the victims were identified as being in their 20s and the sixth victim was in his early 30s. Police did not release names at the scene.
When police arrived at the scene, two victims were found at the intersection, two others had fled and emergency medical services were called and taken to an area hospital. The other two arrived at Queens and Bronx hospitals, respectively.
The authorities had no motive behind the shooting.
