Rancid toilet and rickety houses, Peter Gillis closes holiday parks after the summer due to severe criticism | Arnhem

Peter Gillis got the mystery guest from MAX Vakantieman all over him. He stayed overnight in one of the Oostappen holiday parks and was not pleased with the state of maintenance and cleanliness.

The paint is peeling from the window frames, the walls are covered with stains and in many places there is dust and cobwebs. The toilet would have been cleaned, but it turns out to be very dirty. “Mass is cash register, but there is a lot of dirty, jaded and disappointing here,” says the mystery guest. “Is that bad? Hatseflats! That’s bad!”

Gillis dares to ask 320 euros for a weekend in this cave. Do I hear someone yelling “crook” here?

MAX Vakantieman also shared scathing reviews about the holiday parks. ,,Never again!!! It’s old stuff and dirty. If you have complaints, nothing will be done about it. Curtains hang half on the rails, everything is broken.” Others complain about poo, blood and mold.

Columnist and TV critic Angela de Jong also lashed out at the practices at Gillis’ holiday parks today. “Whoever studies the reviews of his holiday paradises – Schaarsbergen, Asten and wherever they are located – just a little bit more, then you know that the customers are bivouacking in a gribus between the blood and poo stains”, she writes in her column.

It is good that MAX Vakantieman is tackling him now, Angela thinks. ,,Because Gillis dares to ask 320 euros for a weekend in this cave. Do I hear someone here yelling ‘crook’?”

Gillis has decided to temporarily close his parks, he says in a response to MAX. “I will not deny that some accommodations have overdue maintenance. Partly due to a lack of personnel and delays in the delivery of materials, not everything has yet been carried out according to our standards.”

“Due to the size of our parks and the number of accommodations, we also have to make choices about which to renovate and which to be refurbished. For this we also choose to close the parks until Easter immediately after the autumn holidays in order to make everything up to date for the next season with all our might.”
