Ranchi Railway’s Ashutosh Sharma Breaks Yuvraj Singh’s Fastest Half-Century Record in Children’s Cricket

Ranchi: Ranchi Railway’s midfielder Ashutosh Sharma has surpassed Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest half-century in children’s cricket. Ashutosh got the record by reaching 50 in 11 balls. Yuvraj’s 12-ball half-century against England in the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in 2007 became legendary.

Ashutosh scored against Arunachal Pradesh in the Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Twenty20 cricket tournament held in Ranchi. With five overs remaining, Railways stood at 131 runs for four wickets. The player who completed his half-century in 11 balls scored 53 runs in a total of 12 balls at a strike rate of 441.66. This includes eight sixes and one four. Railways’ innings reached 246 for five with the help of Ashutosh and wicketkeeper Upendra Yadav’s 103 off 51 balls. The team scored 115 runs in the last five overs alone. In reply, Railways bowled out Arunachal Pradesh for 119 runs in 18.1 overs and won by 127 runs.

Ashutosh made his T20 debut in 2018. The first game was for Madhya Pradesh. During his five-year career, he played only 10 T20Is. The 25-year-old recorded this in his second match in the Railways jersey. Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airey, who crossed 50 in nine balls against Mongolia in the last Asian Games, holds the record for the fastest half-century in T20.
