Rancagüinos agree that justice must prevail in the Godoy case – 2024-04-14 19:43:32

After the ruling of the Guarantee Court and the Oral Criminal Court of Rancagua, and after hearing the decision of Judge Loreta Salas when decreeing for the mayor of Rancagua, Juan Ramón Godoy, preventive detention for 90 days while the investigations into alleged events progress of corruption in the Municipality of the regional capital, there have been many reactions in the regional political sphere, who trust in a transparent result where justice prevails.

We learned the opinion of councilors, senators, deputies, mayors and regional authorities, but who we also wanted to know the reaction of was the ordinary people, the neighbors, who for the most part trusted the last mayoral elections and councilors, in a person who is currently being prosecuted by the courts of justice, for alleged crimes of bribery, money laundering, treasury fraud and embezzlement of public funds.

One of the most emblematic places in our regional capital to know the opinion of the people is the Plaza de Los Héroes, precisely a few meters from the town hall building, where the majority of those surveyed spoke out in favor of the truth coming to light. public light and always trusting in the transparency of the investigative process carried out by the courts responsible for this notorious case, which has scandalized public opinion.

We consulted workers, entrepreneurs, housewives, young people, and the elderly, to make our survey more varied, and at the same time, we offer our consistent readers and followers the results in the voice of their own protagonists.

Estefany González, mother and entrepreneur.

One of the first people consulted was Estefany González, who expressed that “I never received help from him, because sometimes I asked for it and they closed the door on me.”

“Actually, it doesn’t matter to me, because in the end, no matter who you are, you have to fight the same, because I asked for help and they always closed the door on me,” the woman stressed at the entrepreneurs’ fair.

This mother of two children, and a student, emphasized that when she went to the municipality they always closed the door on her and that her attempt was of no use and stated that “everything fell by its own weight,” because sooner or later she was going to either of the two will fall, referring to the previous mayor.

Sergio Díaz: “He deserves it…”.

“The money that was stolen is a lot,” said another of the respondents who identified himself as Sergio Díaz, referring to the fact that in the city of Rancagua there are many parts where the roads are not finished, and he made reference to the El Cobre Highway, which , in his opinion, has been unfinished for about four years.

When asked about the case of the current mayor who is being prosecuted for alleged acts of corruption, this elderly man did not hesitate to express that “I feel that it is fine. “He deserves it, because that money belongs to all Chileans and especially to those of us who work, who, instead of doing good projects, steal all that money.”

Jorge Cabrera: “If you mess up, you have to pay.”

Continuing our tour, we ran into Mr. Jorge Cabrera, to which, without consideration, when consulting him on the subject, he said that “if you mess up you have to pay.”

In the opinion of this elderly neighbor, there are other previous mayors who “should also be investigated and not just Juan Ramón.”

He expressed that if Mayor Juan Ramón Godoy ends up paying with prison for the crimes that are committed against him, “I feel it in my soul, because he was very well known and I voted for him.”

Cabrera ended our short conversation with another well-known expression: “one sees faces, but not hearts,” to which he continued his way through the Plaza de Los Héroes, in the very center of the historic center of the capital city.

Paz Toro: “Greed is the root of these cases…”.

We wanted to know the opinion of the Rancagüina youth, and precisely, a young worker, Paz Toro, crossed our path, so we took the opportunity to ask her about this scandalous case of the preventive detention of Mayor Juan Ramón Godoy, which the girl rightly stated, “I believe that it is important that it be inspected periodically and that, if at the time of inspecting it they are finding these discrepancies, they should pay the consequences.”

“I feel that justice is going to determine if it is true or not,” stated the young woman, and that, if so, it is important that she assume the consequences that correspond to her.

The young woman from Rancagüina wanted to send a message to public officials not to be blinded by greed, as this is often the root of these cases and to remember that their mission is to provide a service to the community and maintain trust. that citizens have in them.

Rodolfo Rojas: “I lost the vote”

Another of those interviewed about the case of the Rancagüino mayor was Rodolfo Rojas, who was tasting a coffee to mitigate a little the morning cold that in the early hours of Friday covered the atmosphere of our city, to which he unceremoniously said that “it’s okay, because If they caught him, he has to pay and that’s how it is for all people.”

“There is a lot of corruption here,” said Rodolfo Rojas, who in his opinion in the public administration should have more supervision and control in public entities, because everything has become a business.

“I lost the vote, because I voted for him,” said this gentleman who was passing through the city’s main square, visibly repentant.
