Rancagua joined the worldwide protest of Venezuelans – 2024-08-19 00:32:56

Following the call by Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado for a worldwide protest against the official results of the presidential elections of July 28, a rally was held in Rancagua in Plaza Los Héroes, where a large number of Venezuelans responded to the call in a civil and peaceful manner.

The demonstration, known as the “Great Protest for Truth,” took place in more than 300 cities around the world, and the regional capital was not far behind, given the large number of Venezuelan immigrants who live in this city, which according to the latest figures exceeds 14,000 people.

The event was scheduled for 6:00 p.m., but attendance gradually increased until, once night fell, the spaces in the main square of the capital were packed with attendees with flags, banners and clothing alluding to this country, which is currently experiencing an economic, political and social situation that has generated the migration of more than 8 million citizens scattered throughout the world.

To the cry of Freedom, Free Venezuela and the singing of the hymn Gloria to the Brave People, many attendees, especially women, in the face of nostalgia for their country, could not contain their tears and express that this effort would be “Until the End.”

The joy and typical music of this Latin American nation was present in the surroundings of the square, where to the rhythm of the llanero dance, a mother and her daughters received applause from those present.

One of the attendees raised her prayers on her knees through a prayer to Almighty God to beg on behalf of all those present and all those who are spread throughout the world, that the wish of all be fulfilled, “a free Venezuela where peace and justice reign.”

Ciro Ali Cardozo, one of the organizers of the event, said that the event was a great success with a massive attendance of Venezuelans, who defend what they think, have the Venezuelan cause and heed the call of María Corina Machado at a global level.

“We Venezuelans who live in Rancagua did not want to be left out and we raised our voices, asking for freedom and democracy for our country,” Cardozo said during the event.

I am convinced that the call for this activity exceeded expectations, as people were eager to have moments like this to be able to express themselves freely and understand that this is a long and firm struggle, to continue asking for one thing that is so important for the people, freedom.

For her part, Ingrid Arriola, a Chilean woman linked to social causes in the city of Rancagua, received applause and gratitude from the Venezuelan public for her words of encouragement for this just cause and her wishes that Venezuela will soon be a country where one can live in freedom and democracy.

“This is a matter of empathy, of common sense, and I wanted to make that clear, because not everyone is the same, that they have come to contribute, to work and to show Chileans that not everyone is the same and that is where I identify absolutely,” said Arriola, to the applause of those present.
