A new public transportation system debuted this Wednesday in the city of Rancagua, with the launch of the first electric bus in the O’Higgins region, which will have a modern technological GPS, counting and payment system. , as a commitment to electromobility and sustainability in urban transportation in the regional capital.

This modern public transport unit, It is the first of a fleet of 40 electric buses that will be incorporated in the city of Rancagua and that are part of an electromobility project, which reduces the presence of carbon, for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
The head of the Transportation portfolio said that as a ministry they are supporting this initiative, which has projects that are being developed in the center of the country and as a private initiative it must be highlighted with the acquisition of these modern units.
Daza mentioned that the new buses have air conditioning, a USB charger and a flat floor, to give dignity to users, especially older adults, as well as people who have mobility difficulties.
He announced that, through a regional government project, which exceeds 1.1 billion pesos, they are waiting for 10 electric buses next week, which are part of the first “Renueva Tu Micro” program, which will operate in the country. This being good news for the city of Rancagua and for the rest of the regions of the country.
In relation to the lack of drivers for these new electric units, Minister Jorge Daza clarified that the Expresos Rancagua company is training its staff and that the ministry, through an agreement signed with SENCE, is strengthening the arrival of more drivers. and especially drivers.
“We believe that incorporating women into working life behind the wheel guarantees security at work and companies greater stability in employment, being close to their homes and permanence at work,” explained the surrogate minister of Transport.

“Here the traditional bus is being promoted, which today is a bus of excellence and has all the comforts, it is in perfect condition to receive more than 40 passengers,” Castro explained.

Wilson Rivas, manager of Expresos Rancagua, reported that this first electric bus in public transportation in the city of Rancagua, which is being positioned in the services, and said that they are satisfied with the work it has been doing together with the Ministry of Transportation, to generate electric mobility projects.
