With the presence of all the members of the Court of Appeals of Rancagua, the commemoration of the 56th anniversary of the publication in the Official Gazette of the law that created the appellate court in 1968 was held on Wednesday, August 14.
The event was attended by the ministers of the appellate court; the minister of the Supreme Court Andrea Muñoz Sánchez; the regional secretary of Justice and Human Rights, Eduardo Marchant; and the regional prosecutor Aquiles Cubillos, among other authorities. In addition, rapporteurs, officials, judges and representatives of the unions of the Judicial Branch participated.
In his speech, the President of the Court of Appeals of Rancagua, Minister Ricardo Pairicán García, highlighted “the effort and commitment of everyone, who daily carry out their work, from different roles and functions, with a clear mission, which is to deliver effective, close, transparent, quality justice that is accessible to the citizens of this region, especially to groups and people who are in a vulnerable situation.”
He said that “when I assumed the presidency, I pointed out that the functioning of the courts of the jurisdiction is of essential importance, since they are the first door that citizens face. That is why I have visited 23 of the 25 courts of the region, the Administrative Corporation of the Judicial Branch of Rancagua and the judicial liquidation units, monitoring of protection measures, instances in which I spoke with their members so that they have the necessary tools to be able to carry out their work with high quality standards,” he added.
He stated that “regarding internal work, we have developed various training courses related to the system of suggestions, complaints and congratulations from users; dissemination of cybersecurity measures; updates to the case management systems; and workshops with rapporteurs of this Court to promote constant improvement in the processes. In this sense, as a jurisdiction, we have achieved an important milestone in the modernization of the Judicial Branch, being the pioneers at the national level in implementing the unified case processing system (UNIJUD) in all the guarantee courts in our region.”
The President of the Supreme Court, Minister Ricardo Blanco Herrera, pointed out in his greeting that this anniversary “invites us to remember all those who throughout the history of the Court and the courts of the jurisdiction gave their best to provide a timely, impartial, quality justice service that is close to all people. At the same time, it is an opportunity to recognize those who today, with the same vocation for service, keep that commitment alive, enriching those 56 years of jurisdictional history.”
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court minister and visitor of the appellate court, Andrea Muñoz, indicated that “what one can notice is that it is a very proactive Court and that it has been carrying out countless activities throughout the year aimed at strengthening its training in the new laws that have been adopted recently. In addition, there is a community of people who are close with mutual respect.”
During the activity, a video was shown with historical images of the Court of Appeals of Rancagua and a speech was given by the third official of the appellate court, Luciana Silva González, who recalled the changes and challenges that the Court has faced during the last 30 years.
