Last weekend, the second round of the 2024 Development League took place, with mixed results for the teams from the O’Higgins region.
The Rancagua CAF quintet achieved their first victory in the tournament. Cristian Figueroa’s pupils traveled to Curicó to visit Liceo at the Abraham Milad gymnasium.
There, the team from the regional capital had a tight victory by 61-63, with partial scores of 9-18, 14-7, 13-24 and 25-14. In this match, Lucas Jofré had a very positive match, because he contributed with 27 points, being the team’s top scorer. In addition, Bastián Zapata scored 17, Cristóbal Díaz 10 and Ricardo Pérez 9. For the locals, meanwhile, Steve Soto – originally from Santa Cruz – scored 11.
Meanwhile, at the regional gymnasium of Maule, Manuel Herrera, in Talca, O’Higgins could not face Atlético Chile. The Piducanos won by 74-51 (15-11, 25-19, 12-13 and 22-8), where the San Fernando native Joaquín Contreras was the most effective for the Talquinos with 25 points. Meanwhile, for the celestes, Benjamín Morales scored 15 points, followed by Iñaki Rojas with 11, Cristóbal Rojas 7, Vicente González 5, Gabriel Sandoval 4, Diego Narváez 3, Adolfo Salazar 2, Christopher Toloza 2 and Jhon González 2.
On the upcoming date, there will be a clash between Rancagua and O’Higgins, as CAF and O’Higgins will play each other this weekend – Saturday 17th at 8pm – in the gymnasium on Cuevas street 154.
