Ran, Violence | The police increase patrols after robbery of children and young people in Oslo

Last weekend, at least ten children and young people were robbed by other minors in Oslo. This weekend, the police will be more present where robberies can take place, also in civilian clothes.

– Now we increase patrolling further with both civilian police and uniformed police along the subway network and in places where our intelligence tells us that there is the greatest probability that new conditions can happen, says police inspector Rune Swahn in Oslo police district to NRK.

Last weekend was marked by several robberies committed by people under the age of 18 in Oslo. At least ten children and young people were robbed of valuables. The police do not have a total number of how many are suspected after the robberies.

– We have the names of several of the suspects, and work is being done to identify several of the perpetrators, says police inspector Renate Myhre Medby in the Oslo police district.

Several of the identified perpetrators are aged from 15 to 17 years.

Now the advice from the police is clear: If you are robbed – do as the robbers ask.

– If you are threatened to give away your jacket, then give away that jacket, says police inspector Swahn.

So far this year, 64 robberies of people between the ages of 10 and 17 have been reported in Oslo, Asker and Bærum. Throughout last year, the number of such cases was 85. According to Swahn, almost 100 percent of the cases are resolved.
