A spokesman for the New York Police Department told AFP that the vehicle hit “several” people in the Murray Hill area of Manhattan after 16 hours.
“An unknown number of people have been injured. They have been transferred to various hospitals”, said. “None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.”added the spokesperson.
He said it was “too early to tell” whether it was an intentional act or a traffic accident. “The driver remained at the scene,” the informant said, adding that the person was in custody.

ABC News reported that the vehicle struck several people participating in a Black Lives Matter protest.
The media added that between 40 and 50 protesters they were in the area at the time, that the protest had spread to the street and that the protesters had surrounded a car.
The car then rammed into the protesters, wounding at least six of them, ABC added. He indicated that the vehicle was driven by a woman whom the police were questioning.
