Aaron Ramsdale admitted that he was injured after his position as number one goalkeeper Arsenal shifted David Raya. However, Ramsdale emphasized that his relationship with Raya was good.
Ramsdale has been Arsenal’s main goalkeeper since being recruited in 2021. Last season, he was used in all of Arsenal’s Premier League matches.
However, the situation changed after the arrival of Raya, who was on loan from Brentford. Ramsdale, who started the season as a starter, now sits on the bench more often.
In the last four matches in the Premier League, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has preferred to use Raya in goal. Since the September international break, Ramsdale has only played once, namely against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
“I think because this is the first time this has happened, the situation is difficult,” said Ramsdale as reported by ESPN.
“Whether it’s me or David playing, we have to be able to focus but at the same time, it’s strange, being in the spotlight. We have to deal with it and that’s what we’re doing. If we don’t get along it won’t work. We work very well professionally together
“There are days where I come in and I’m sad because of the situation and he cheers me on and for whatever reason there may be days where he’s sad and even though I’m suffering and hurt from not playing, I have to face it and push through it,” said Aaron Ramsdale.
