“Were too impressed”: Ramlingen loses his game in Lohne in the early stages

Lohne.SV Ramlingen-Ehlershausen returned from the first away game in the promotion round of the Oberliga with empty hands. Three goals within six minutes – Christopher Schepp (15th) and Thorsten Tönnies (16th, 21st) scored – brought the early preliminary decision in favor of hosts Blau-Weiss Lohne, in the end this strong team of coach Henning Rießelmann sat down 3:2 (3:1) and, as second in the table, kept his chance of promotion.

After the second defeat in a row – and that in a so-called six-point game – the hopes of the RSE to make it into the regional league have suffered a significant dampening. “In the first half we were too impressed by the outstanding, technically advanced game of our opponents. We couldn’t put any pressure forward and were inferior in the duels,” stated Ramlingen’s coach Philipp Gasde.

Louis Engelbrecht could have given the visitors the lead after ten minutes, but after a pass from Bangin Bakir he put the ball under the crossbar. Steffen von Pless was more successful, who shortened the lead with a well-considered shot from seven meters in the 37th minute.

“In the second half we showed morale and showed better pressing in midfield, which enabled us to get the opponent under control,” praised Gasde. This did not go unrewarded: after a free kick by the convincing Yannik Pohlmann, Engelbrecht quickly headed the goal (54th). The Ramlingers almost managed to equalize, but Hannes Müller failed in the final minute in a one-on-one game at the opposing goalkeeper. “Unfortunately, we weren’t able to reward ourselves for the greater commitment,” said Gasde.
