While Chappell Roan continues to rack up streaming ratings (with the latest single “Good Luck, Babe!”), earn awards (best new artist at the MTV VMA’s) and cause discussion for his punk approach to stan culture (prioritizing her mental health, she canceled two live shows because the controversy and the attention of the fans around her had “become oppressive”) her myth is acquiring more and more interest.

Although fans often see the artist as a pure result of the creative flair of an individual, it is worth remembering that behind every great singer (especially the greatest) there is a real machine. To give a kick to success of the Chappell Roan brand it was his vision Creative Director, Ramisha Sattar. The work of creative direction often remains in the shadows but, in reality, it is what contributes most to how we perceive the identity of a singersongs aside.

Interviewed by HypebaeRamisha Sattar said about the creative work on the artist’s look: «A good example is what we did for the wardrobe before the album came out! We went to buy used parts in different markets flea shop in Los Angeles and then we would go to Santee Alley to buy feathers, beads, fringes and rhinestones. According to the Creative Director, who before collaborating with Roan worked for the magazine Rookie and collaborated with Phoebe Bridges: «We met on Instagram! He saw one of my collages on his Explore page and followed me. And then I realized I had seen her live once when she opened for another artist. So it was a nice ‘invisible thread’ moment.” Then Sattar adds: «I love working with Chappell because it doesn’t feel like work. It’s a party. The world behind the scenes is fun as much as how it translates on stage and in music videos. It truly has been the most fun last two years ever.”
