The Independent Cinemas of Paris are organizing a rally on Sunday March 14, 2021 in front of the Majestic Bastille. They join the #Ouvreznoscinemas movement in favor of the reopening of theaters.
The Independent cinemas from Paris (CIP) join the national mobilization for the reopening of theaters. Sunday March 14, 2021, the PICs call for a rally in front of the Majestic Bastille from 2 p.m.
235 days of closure since the start of the crisis
In total, cinemas have accumulated 235 days of closure since the start of the health crisis in Covid-19. While Federation of French Cinemas called for national mobilization, the thirty independent cinemas in Paris are calling on their audiences to gather at 2, boulevard Richard Lenoir, in the 11th district.
As part of the national #Ouvrezlescinemas operation, we will paste in music, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., the photos of our 30 facades of Parisian theaters on the wall of the Majestic Bastille and will invite spectators to come and stick with us and exchange their best movie memories.
Complementary actions to the occupations of theaters
Similar actions are planned throughout France, at the initiative of the National Group of Research Cinemas (GNCR) andAssociation of independent cinema for its distribution (Acid).
Complementary initiatives to theater occupations which are multiplying after those of the Théâtre de l’Odéon (6th) and the Théâtre de la Colline (20th) and should make it possible to denounce “the stubborn refusal of the government to reopen places of culture”, indicate the associations in a joint statement.
