A protest rally took place in front of a Douglas branch in Vienna’s Kärntnerstrasse on Friday, which, according to the trade union information, took part in over 250 people. The reason is the dismissal of a Douglas employee who wanted to found a works council.
The drugstore chain always denied a connection between the dismissal and the intended establishment of the works council. From the company’s perspective, there were “serious misconduct”.

The chairwoman of the GPA-djp union, Barbara Teiber, once again criticized the “last-rate behavior” of the management of Douglas, which was characterized by a sense of authority. “We will continue to do everything possible to establish a works council at Douglas because we are convinced that the employees in this company urgently need a works council,” said Teiber.
